Bertrand Chamayou was special guest soloist at the Festival Radio France in Montpellier over the weekend, performing Ravel’s thrilling Piano Concerto for the Left Hand. He was accompanied by the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and brilliant young Finnish conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali.

As an encore – with his two hands – he delighted the audience with the same composer’s Pavane pour une infante défunte.

In a radio interview during the intermission, he confessed that he finds the work one of the most ‘stressful’ concertos to perform and likened the sensation of playing with only the left hand to ‘being naked’.
